Exactly one year to the day after his younger brother, Darrell joined the band along with Tim and Chewie in 1985. Originally a baritone singer, Darrell now sings the lead for the group—a part he executes with drive and conviction—anchoring the unmistakable harmonies of the band. Occasionally, however, he still gets the opportunity to sing baritone on songs featuring one of the other guys. He also enjoys songwriting with other group members. Like most of the talented members of the band, he too plays several instruments. A one time drummer, his duties for the band now include rhythm guitar and the banjo.
“We owe all we have to God,” he says. “We praise in the purest form we can, by giving back to Him.”
