There’s no mistaking the powerful bass vocal Tommy gives to the Waymasters—a part he began singing even prior to founding the group in 1979 with his brother, Harold. Originally, he also played bass guitar until Danny took over in 1984. He then moved to guitar and has most recently picked up the mandolin. Tommy also serves as manager for the group, and he’s no stranger to gospel music. As youngsters he and Harold, along with their three other brothers, would travel to churches to hear their dad and his siblings sing. Drawing from this history, the Waymasters continue in the heartfelt praise of God through song.
“Once you sing praises to God,” he says, “You get a feeling in your heart that won't let you quit.”
